undefinedA group of women had their hair shaved to raise money to send a friend who's coping with cancer on a family holiday. Lisa Williams a member of Holy Trinity, Capenhurst, near Chester was touched by her pals' decision to go to the Liverpool One shopping centre to have their heads close-cropped (pictured).

During the big hair shave, which took place earlier this month, the friends – who include Jo Pemberton, a Reader at Holy Trinity – passed round buckets and raised £2,000.

Jo, a former project worker for our diocese’s ‘Ending the Silence’ domestic violence campaign, said: “Liverpool One was freezing but the music and people kept us warm with plenty of Scouse humour and deep pockets!”

Also this month a group of men from the Wirral were waxed at various locations to raise funds for the proposed trip for Lisa and her young family to Disneyland in Florida.

Overall so far more than £13,500 has been raised. Plus, a vigil for Lisa's family and friends was held at the church in Capenhurst. People were encouraged to light a candle for loved ones no longer with them, to pray and to seek healing and understanding.
