Anne Simkiss retirement do July 2015

undefinedBishop Peter's Executive Assistant Anne Simkiss has retired with lots of good wishes from friends in our diocese. At a buffet reception held for Anne at Bishop's House, Chester, Bishop Peter described her as "an absolute jewel and a treasure". On behalf of colleagues and friends she was presented with an orchid and a cheque.

Anne has worked in the bishop’s office in various roles since March 1997 – in recent years as +Peter’s Executive Assistant. She was diagnosed with cancer a year ago, and has been undergoing treatments.

After retiring early, she now plans some holidays and adventures – starting with an immediate surprise “girlie break” abroad with her daughter Lauri. Other treats lined up include a hot air balloon ride and a trip to South Wales.

Anne is married to Charles. As well as Lauri, they have a son, Mark, and a baby grandson, Theo.

Anne told friends gathered at Bishop’s House for the special buffet lunch that she considered the team she’s worked with in Chester as being “more like a family” than office colleagues.

Anne added: “It was a wonderful occasion. I’d like to give my heartfelt thanks to those who were able to attend, and to all the other people who are such good friends and colleagues across the diocese.”
