150th anniversary of Reader Ministry

undefined2016 marks the 150th anniversary of the establishment of Reader ministry in the Church of England. There have been national events, deanery events and then on Saturday, 15 October, a diocesan celebration in the Cathedral. Bishop Libby led the service and gave licences to eight new Readers and a further four who have transferred into parishes in the diocese.

Five Readers became Reader Emeritus, having notched up between them a total of 112 years’ service.  The preacher was the Rt Revd Robert Paterson, Bishop of Sodor & Man and Chair of the Central Readers Council.
