What qualifications do I need?
Only the support of your vicar or Rural Dean. (You will need your vicar or Rural dean to sign your course application form.)
Who will teach the course?
This is a national course and will be taught locally by the diocesan MSM team but our aim is to have half the course taught by nationally recognised fresh expressions practitioners.
What sort of topics will the course cover? (Below are examples of the sort of issues tackled in each session)
Incarnating the Gospel: what culture is, the cultures in which the bible was written, the church as a cultural expression of the gospel, knowing ourselves and our prejudices, challenging culture. The Healthy Church: the essential characteristics of healthy corporate Christian life, insights from 'Healthy Churches Handbook' and Natural Church Development. Church as Missional Community and the Meaning of 'Church': the creation of the people of God from Abraham onwards, the concepts of the pilot community, the light to the nations, the body of Christ Developing a Fresh Expression: key stages and elements in developing a Fresh Expression, relationship with other Expressions and with traditional church, handling change Our Diverse Society: the loss of common British culture during 20th century, social, ethnic and generational distinctives today, embracing diversity while seeking unity, the meaning of Christian unity, expressing the 'catholic' church
