Vocations Advisers

Bowdon Deanery   The Revd Jane Beaumont
Hi there.  I'm Associate Vicar at St Mary Magdalene, Ashton upon Mersey, a large and diverse church.  Ordained in 2004 and Reader before that, I have a heart to help people find their vocation within the Church of England.  I love to see people grow into mature and secure Christians.  If asked what my preference and churchmanship is, I would have to say that the authority of the bible is foundational as is charismatic spirituality (using and moving in the spiritual gifts). I have a high view of the sacraments and find liturgical and non-liturgical worship services enriching.

Chadkirk Deanery  The Reverend Lynn Boyle

I have been House for Duty Vicar of St Paul's Compstall since 2011. From 1979 to 2015 I was a serving primary school teacher in Stockport, the latter 18 years as a Headteacher, overlapping with my training, Curacy and present position as an Incumbent. I trained for ordination on the Northern Ordination Course and was ordained in 2007 before serving my Curacy at St Saviour's, Great Moor, Stockport. I have always been passionate about recognising and acknowledging the potential of others and enabling and developing this. It is a huge privilege to be able to help those trying to discern what God is calling them to do in His service.

Chester Deanery   The Revd Adam Friend
After knowing a call to ministry at 16 it seemed a long time to reach ordination at 26; a ten year story following the ups and downs of testing a vocation in the C of E.  I am currently Vicar of Tarvin after serving my curacy at St Helen in Northwich, and my first incumbency at St Chad, Winsford. I trained for ministry in Durham after completing my first Degree in Performing Arts at St Martin's in Lancaster. I am married to Helen who is a Head Teacher. I can empathise with the frustrations that can be found in the process to ordination, but am living proof that if God keeps pushing then his way will prevail!

Macclesfield Deanery Keith Ravenscroft
I am a Reader (Lay Minister). After a career in business in the UK and North America, I was licensed in 2008. I divide my work between two parishes. My main church is St Peter’s Prestbury and its two sister churches, where I focus on preaching and leading worship, plus ministry at Macclesfield General Hospital and various care homes. I also run two house groups at St Peter’s. My second church is St Thomas’ Norbury, where I share a collaborative teaching ministry with the Associate Vicar there. He and I also run seminars within the Diocese for the course on Continuing Ministerial Development. Overall it’s a varied and active ministry that is full-time – and that I love.

How might I be of help to you?

After a lifetime of hard line atheism, I came to faith in the mid 1990s. That gives me a perspective on doubting, questioning, and certainty, and of how Christian faith can collide and also cohabit with modern secular life. It has been a fairly bumpy journey of faith for me, in which it has sometimes been hard for me to recognise and respond to God’s call. So I would hope to be of help and support to those who may have an urge to serve, but who also feel the need to recognise and answer the right call at the right time. I know from personal experience that this is not easy!

Malpas Deanery   The Revd Julian Beauchamp
After teaching in secondary education in Cheltenham for four years, I worked for a Christian organisation organising activity holidays for teenagers.  I came from the London Diocese and trained at Oak Hill before doing my curacy in Cheadle.  I am married with three children, am incumbent at Waverton, Aldford and Bruera just south of Chester and I am trying to learn the piano – for fun only; I also enjoy gardening.  I am currently working on a biblical theology of priesthood from a Reformed Evangelical perspective.

Have had experience of rural ministry in Lincolnshire and am now experiencing life in an UPA parish. Before ordination I trained as a classical pianist, worked for the Home Office and London Underground. I am a keen photographer, musician, and quite a technophile. It’s a great privilege to come alongside people exploring their Christian vocation.

Nantwich Deanery The Revd Stephen Snelling
Having trained at SEITE in London I was ordained in 2010 and served the first year of my curacy in Kent before moving to Nantwich where I am Associate Rector (SSM).  St Mary’s is a busy church with a civic role and it is situated at the heart of the town both spiritually and actually.  Before I was ordained I had an executive banking role in London and came to ministry after a long journey and being made redundant in my early fifties. I know that I would not be doing what I am doing today without the support of my wife, Deborah.  I am currently studying for an MA in Christian Liturgy.

I have learned that our God is a God of surprises and that he puts you in the right place at exactly the right time to do what he needs to be done.
I count it a great privilege to be able to help people to take their first steps on another part of their Christian journey.

Wallasey Deanery    The Revd Aline Watts
Hi, I trained at St John’s, Nottingham after 20 years as a stay at home mum and child minder.  I have been at Leasowe as priest in charge since September 2008.  It is an interesting UPA parish that is challenging and rewarding.  Since becoming a Christian as a small child I have experienced and grown through a huge variety of churchmanships.  If pushed I would say I am now an evangelical, with some conservative tendencies and open to the move of the Holy Spirit, with a high regard for the sacraments.  At college they just called me ‘confused’; I would say I have depth and breadth!   Among my greatest joys in ministry is prayer and seeing people grow closer to the Lord and discovering the plans He has to prosper them.  I love working out at the gym, especially lifting weights, learning to use a digital camera and using the photos that I take.
