Celebrating 350 Years of the Prayer Book
Chester Cathedral - 08/09/2012
2012 marks the 350th anniversary of the well-loved 1662 Book of Common Prayer, and the occasion will be celebrated with a day of events at Chester Cathedral.
Bishop Peter will preach at a 1662 Sung Eucharist at 11.30 a.m in the Choir (Celebrant: The Dean of Chester). At 2.00 p.m. in the Chapter House there will be talk on the Prayer Book by Douglas Hurd (Lord Hurd of Westwell), a Lay Patron of the Prayer Book Society.
Following the talk there will be an opportunity for limited numbers to join tours of the Cathedral Library exhibition (‘The Church’s Banquet: Celebrating the Book of Common Prayer’), and the day will conclude with Cathedral Evensong at 4.15. All are most welcome—enquiries to John Scrivener (john@johnscrivener.fsnet.co.uk, telephone 01244 300389).
