GMCT- New Beginnings
Salford - 30/10/2012
Greater Manchester Churches Together Annual Assembly
5pm till 9.00pm
Salford Cathedral Centre, 3 Ford Street, Salford M3 6DP
Christian churches from all parts of Greater Manchester will be coming together on October 30th at the Cathedral Centre in Salford. Representatives from all the denominations will be meeting to agree a new way of working together that will bring the Christian message over more effectively to the entire city region.
GMCT (Greater Manchester Churches Together) the body that represents all the churches across Greater Manchester is to hold its Annual Assembly on that date. The event will bring together all its members; it will include an opportunity to showcase the work that member churches are doing together in all the different boroughs of Greater Manchester.
Nick Clifford, Chair of the GMCT Council says:
“The idea is that we celebrate the fabulous work that Christians can do when they work together. All the Church Leaders, senior clergy and local churches together groups will be coming together. We aim to have an enormous map of the whole of the city region spread out on the floor and for each area to bring symbols or artefacts that highlight the crucial work that churches do together. There will be food and stalls and opportunities for people to network and share good ideas. The event will finish with a service of celebration at which Bishop Nigel, the Bishop of Manchester, will be preaching on the urgent need for an improved dialogue between churches. Over the past year, GMCT has been reviewing the way its been working. Now Church Leaders are bringing forward proposals for a radical change. These will aim to enable all the local church groups; the ecumenical partnerships; church leaders; and all church supporters to reaffirm their commitment to working together. It looks like being a really good and fun event.”
