Life Expectancy Wirral: Prayer and Thanksgiving evening
Christ the King,Birkenhead - 02/07/2012
In order for us to make the right decisions about the future of Life Expectancy Wirral, we need to listen to God's guidance. To help us to do this together we are holding a prayer evening for those with a heart for Life Expectancy Wirral.
As there are many different types of prayer we will provide opportunities for quiet reflection, praying in small groups and moving around/praying out loud. There will be different rooms for each of these. We will also provide you with a prayer note book to record your prayers and what you feel God is saying to you which we will ask you to hand in before you leave. This will enable us to capture your thoughts from the evening.
Although our priority is to listen and hear what God is saying, we will also provide a few specific prayer points and we would appreciate it if you include these in your prayers.
Outline of the evening:
7.30 Refreshments
7.40 Introduction to evening – Wendy Robertson
7.45 Praying together – Bishop Keith Sinclair
7.55 Splitting into rooms: (reflective prayer, praying in twos or threes and praying out loud)
8.30 Coming back together and completing prayer note books
8.35 Final praying together and Blessing – Bishop Keith Sinclair
Prayer Points
-
LEW meeting in September for churches interested in becoming a pair
-
Event next year with statutory and voluntary sectors looking at asset based approach to poverty
-
Wisdom and clarity of purpose for the LEW steering group
-
Financial stability for LEW
- Prayer requests of current pairs:
- Laird Street Baptist and St. Bridgets - due to lack of finances Laird Street has recently had to release their minister from his duties. They would appreciate your prayers as they face their future as a church.
- St. Oswalds and St. Mary’s - Please pray for the continuing good relationships and the trust that is growing in the group – that these can cascade outwards to include the wider churches. Pray for protection around the group members many of whom have had serious issues to contend with whilst working within the group.
Also for the discernment of the next direction particularly in relation to developing:
(a) An ‘Acts of Kindness’ type project within the churches – pray for issues like health and safety and safeguarding to be dealt with
(b) a conference for agencies working on the Beechwood estate to discuss how we can work together on the issue of life expectancy
Please come and join us!
