St Michael and All Angels Church, Bramhall, Stockport SK7 2PG
Lunch and refreshments will be provided
Using the hand as a starting point to explore different ways of being creative
We are running three workshops and there will be an opportunity during the day for everyone to take part in two out of the three workshops (one in the morning; one in the afternoon).
Workshops
These are taster workshops – no previous experience is necessary
-
Smudging from the hand: building layers of colour with pastels led by Wendy Rudd. This workshop gives a space to work silently with pastels where the reflective process is more important than the result.
-
Writing from the hand: developing poetry from body language led by Andrew Rudd. Starting from a close look at hand gestures in works of art, this simple writing exercise will help us to discover our own words. No experience or particular skills required – just a willingness to experiment.
-
Sculpting from the hand: creating a decorative plaster model led by Dee Rollinson. In this workshop Dee will lead you through the steps to make a sculpture of your hand. Following the making, Dee will facilitate a group discussion to consider the numerous ways these sculptures can be enhanced and used as a means of personal expression and/or group statements – no experience needed. Note: All materials are provided but if you have something you would like to incorporate into your sculpture, for example coloured thread or small beads, then please feel free to bring them along.
Art materials, lunch, and refreshments included (do let us know about any dietary or access requirements)
Please bring suitable clothes or covering (eg an old shirt) for working with art materials
To book, please contact Jane Hood by email or phone 01244 681973 ext 257. Please list your workshop choices at the time of booking. Rank the workshops in order of preference, with 1 as your first choice, etc. We will endeavour to give you your first choice, but in the event of workshops being full, we will put you in one of the others.
