What do we do? |

|
SEVERAL geographically-based support groups for those working with older people around our diocese are to be set up. The idea for the groups arose from three highly successful resource days held last November by Older People in the Church – a sub-group of the Committee for Social Responsibility (CSR). The feedback indicated that those working with older people needed locally-based support groups which could offer information, encouragement and resources for this important and growing ministry. Jenny Gillies, our Family Life Officer, said|: “We have laid a really good foundation in our work with older people. Now we need to take the project a step further and make it come really alive. We need to meet the needs of older people, and those working with them, right in the midst of their communities, and we feel that setting up these locally based groups will do just that. Each group will have its own co-ordinator and will decide the best way to proceed in providing what’s needed locally. The co-ordinators will meet together with Jenny from time to time and it is envisaged that there will be a major diocesan-based every two or three years.
