This role is jointly funded by The Mother's Union and the Committee for Social Responsibility (CSR) who, recognising the family as an area of joint concern, are working in Partnership.
About Jenny I have 20 years teaching experience, the last 5 years working in personal, social and health education which includes sex and drug education, relationships, parenting and bereavement. I am a worshipping member at Christ the King in the Priory Parish, Birkenhead.
What do I do? My aim is to enable parishes to respond to the diverse needs of families and members of the community by offering practical help, advice and encouragement.
My work includes support for ministry around:
Baptism Marriage Bereavement Parenting Ageing and the Elderly
Other areas for development include support for ministry around divorce and singleness as well as fatherhood, single parents and financial issues.
Who am I available to help? Parishes or deaneries looking to develop their work with families and Clergy, Pastoral Workers, Family Workers, MU branch or deanery leaders needing support or advice in this area of work.
Specific plans for 2008-9 include:

Continuing to support marriage by the implementation of a strategic plan which includes further training for lay and clergy as well as the dioceses engagement in wedding fairs

Working with a Diocesan group to explore ways of upholding marriage whilst pastorally supporting the divorced and separated

Development of parenting support work using the 28 trained facilitators to ensure that more parishes are able to support families in this way

Supporting parishes in engaging with work with dads
